Williams and Lewer, Robertson and Rohner Secure First Junior Grand Prix Medals

In a dazzling display of talent at the first Junior Grand Prix of the season held in Riga, Latvia, Naomi Williams and Lachlan Lewer of the pairs category, alongside Jasmine Robertson and Chase Rohner of ice dance, clinched bronze medals on August 25, 2025. These figures skaters demonstrated remarkable skill, marking a significant achievement for their burgeoning careers.

Williams and Lewer, who previously dazzled at the 2024 World Junior Championships by securing the bronze, made a resounding debut in the Junior Grand Prix by setting a new international personal best. With a short program score of 58.13 points, they executed a stunning routine to “Otoño Porteño,” starting strong with a triple twist lift and culminating with a Level 3 reverse lasso lift that scored 7.54 points.

In the free skate, Williams and Lewer attuned their performances to a medley of John Miles tracks, obtaining positive grades on nearly every element. A highlight was their Level 4 reverse lasso lift, which generated an impressive 8.70 points, ultimately leading them to garner a total of 159.63 points across segments and securing bronze with an exhilarating free skate score of 101.50 points.

Robertson and Rohner also made headlines by capturing bronze at their international figure skating debut. Beginning their partnership in January, they showcased a choreography to a vibrant mix that included “Groove Is in the Heart.” Their rhythmic sequence concluded with a strong midline step sequence and a Level 4 rotational lift.

The duo finished with an overall score of 147.83 points after boasting a tremendous free dance performance garnering 90.92 points. They shone with well-received synchronized twizzles, enhancing their medal-worthy presentation.

Though their teammates Addyson McDanold and Aaron Felberbaum faced challenges and placed eighth, the excitement among Team USA was palpable, particularly regarding the successes of the younger talents entering the professional figure skating arena. With promising performances that signal their potential, Williams, Lewer, Robertson, and Rohner are athletes to watch closely as they progress through the Junior Grand Prix series and beyond.
