World Champions Headline U.S. Roster at Cup of China

Three-time and reigning World champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates are primed to debut their season at the 2025 Cup of China, kicking off from October 24-26. As the second stop in the coveted ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, this competition is pivotal for ranking ahead of the Grand Prix Final.

Alysa Liu, who earned the World crown in her initial season back from retirement, returns with a fierce determination to claim her first Grand Prix medal. Liu, a 2022 Olympian, narrowly missed the podium in her opening event of the season, finishing fourth at the 2025 Lombardia Trophy. Competing against her will be Amber Glenn, the two-time and current U.S. champion, fresh off a dominant performance, winning both of her Grand Prix events last season and clinching gold at the ISU Grand Prix Final 2024.

Glenn’s momentum is undeniable after capturing gold at the 2025 Nebelhorn Trophy, landing her in the top five world rankings this season. In the ice dance category, Chock and Bates set their sights on qualifying for their fourth Olympic Games—a remarkable pursuit bolstered by 20 Grand Prix medals accumulated since their partnership in 2011.

The United States delegation also features bronze and pewter medallists from the recent championships—Caroline Green and Michael Parsons, along with Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik. McBeath and Parkman will represent the U.S. in pairs with aspirations following their recent fourth-place finish at the Grand Prix de France.

In the men’s division, Sanchez readies for his Grand Prix debut in Chongqing after a stellar junior career, while Hiwatashi seeks to leverage his previous podium finishes for continued success. As competitions commence, the short programs will set the stage for thrilling performances, with medals awaiting in all four disciplines.
