ISU CS Denis Ten Memorial 2025: Lee Haein eases to women’s title

The Republic of Korea skater, Lee Haein, claimed victory in the women’s category at the 2025 Denis Ten Memorial competition held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Friday, October 3. This prestigious event is part of the ISU Challenger Series.

With a total score of 196.84, Lee established a commanding lead over her compatriot Yun Ahsun, who finished second with a score of 174.37. Canadian skater Madeline Schizas secured the bronze with a total score of 164.39.

Lee entered the free skate with a virtually insurmountable advantage of nearly ten points over Schizas following a strong short programme. Set to the iconic music of Carmen, Lee delivered an impressive performance, beginning with a flawless triple loop jump and following up with a clean triple Lutz and triple toeloop combination. Her free skate score climbed to 132.06, bolstering her overall total.

The competition for silver and bronze was fiercely contested, with positions second through fifth separated by less than three points after the short programme. Yun Ahsun, who ranked fourth at that stage, soared to the silver medal position thanks to a clean routine set to tunes from Les Misérables.

Melissa Schizas experienced some challenges, popping a few jumps, but managed to seize the bronze, narrowly edging out American skater Josephine Lee, who placed fourth with 160.92.

The Denis Ten Memorial is set to conclude on Saturday, October 4, featuring both ice dance and men’s free programmes.

With athletes from around the globe competing for glory, the spirit of sportsmanship and talent continues to resonate throughout this remarkable event. Fans can look forward to more spectacular performances as the competition progresses.
