Levito Second After Short Program at Skate Canada
In an exhilarating display of athleticism and artistry, Isabeau Levito of Team USA claimed second place in the short program at Skate Canada International, held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Friday night. With a score of 71.80, Levito finds herself just .49 points off the lead as she heads into Saturday’s free skate.
Levito captivated the audience with a performance set to themes from classic Sophia Loren movies. She opened with an impressive triple flip-triple toe loop combination which earned her a program-high of 9.80 points. Two Level 4 spins and a clean triple loop were also standout moments in her routine.
Demonstrating remarkable skater skills, Levito led all competitors in program components with a score of 34.72, underscoring her ability to blend technical excellence with artistic expression. This marks her second appearance in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, following a fourth-place finish at the Grand Prix de France a couple of weeks prior.
Fellow Americans Bradie Tennell and Sarah Everhardt also competed, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively, with scores of 65.55 and 63.47. Tennell, skating to “Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Rey, overcame a misstep in her opening jump and delivered two Level 4 spins along with a compelling step sequence.
Everhardt, on her part, skated to “Reel Around the Sun” and showcased a strong performance featuring a Level 4 spin as well as a triple loop and a double Axel.
In pairs competition, Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea made their Grand Prix Series debut, finishing fourth in the short program with a score of 65.48. The duo’s competitive performance included a Level 4 triple twist and strong execution in other elements, casting a promising shadow ahead of this season’s competitions.
Stay tuned for the free skate on Saturday, as Levito aims for the top spot in what promises to be a thrilling continuation of the 2025 ISU Grand Prix Series.
