Mexican figure skater Donovan Carrillo showcased his remarkable talent during the Winter Olympics 2026 taking place in Milano, Italy, on February 13. At 26 years old, Carrillo made a mark in his second Olympic appearance, having finished 22nd at the Beijing 2022 Games.
This time around, Carrillo mesmerized the audience with a total score of 143.50 in the free skate, culminating in a season best of 219.06. His performance was an engaging display of energy set to an electrifying medley of Elvis Presley hits, including Jailhouse Rock and A Little Less Conversation.
“Completely magical. Electrifying. The audience was spectacular right from the start,” Carrillo expressed in an interview. “You could feel that affection, that vibe of support, that love. I feel very fortunate to be one of the skaters who I think receives so much love from the crowd.”
Though his execution had some technical challenges, as he turned out of one of his planned quadruple toeloops resulting in a negative grade of execution marks, the heartwarming support from his fans overshadowed the minor setbacks.
“I am very grateful to all the Mexicans who made that great effort to come to Milano,” Carrillo shared. “It literally felt like I was competing at home. I can assure you that they inspired and motivated me to keep fighting and keep pushing.”
