Winter Olympics 2026: Brad Hall and Lilah Fear chosen as Team GB Flagbearers for Opening Ceremony

As the anticipation builds for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, Team GB has announced its Flagbearers, with bobsleigh pilot Brad Hall and figure skater Lilah Fear set to lead the charge during the much-anticipated Opening Ceremony. Both athletes expressed their deep honor and excitement to represent their country at this prestigious event.

Fear, who recently secured a world bronze medal with her partner Lewis Gibson in ice dance, will lead the British delegation at the Milano San Siro Olympic Stadium on February 6th. Hall, recognized as the most successful men’s bobsleigh pilot in British history with an impressive tally of 30 World Cup medals, will also make history as the first bobsleigh competitor to carry the Union Jack since Stuart Parkinson in 1956.

“I was in a bit of shock when I received the news,” Hall recounted. He revealed the moment came unexpectedly from Olympic champion Eve Muirhead, bringing him immense joy. As a veteran competitor, Hall has made significant strides for British bobsleigh and hopes to inspire younger athletes in the sport.

Fear, reflecting on her emotional connection to the event, remarked, “I wear my heart on my sleeve. While I’m overwhelmed, I plan to embrace every moment.” She emphasized the profound honor of carrying the flag alongside her teammates, highlighting that the experience holds both personal and collective significance.

Team GB Chef de Mission Eve Muirhead expressed her belief in Hall and Fear’s selection, acknowledging not only their athletic prowess but also their commitment to the Team GB culture. “They truly embody the spirit of teamwork and dedication,” she commented.

This year’s Opening Ceremony will see various venues in northern Italy join the celebration, ensuring participation across communities, alongside the main event. The energy is palpable as the world turns its attention to the thrilling festivities ahead of Milano Cortina 2026.

The Opening Ceremony kicks off at 8 p.m. CET, marking a grand start to the Winter Olympics that will showcase outstanding talent and sporting excellence on a global stage.
