Boston University Wins Record-Breaking Eighth National Intercollegiate Final Title

Boston University stood proudly atop the podium this weekend, achieving a historic milestone by capturing their eighth team title at the 2025 National Intercollegiate Final, held at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. This achievement sets a new record for the most National Intercollegiate Final titles won by a single institution, with Boston dominating the event by securing six out of the last seven championships.

The skaters representing Boston University showcased outstanding talent and teamwork, winning an impressive seven events — the highest number by any participating school — racking up a total of 263.5 points. Key contributors Paige Dong and Maria Lagutina both emerged with two wins each. Dong triumphed in the juvenile solo free dance and juvenile women’s short program, while Lagutina clinched gold in the preliminary solo pattern dance and novice women’s free skate.

Following closely in second place, the University of Delaware finished with 255.0 points, highlighted by six individual victories. Bryan Lehmenn was a standout performer, securing gold in both the silver solo pattern dance and the senior championship men’s free skate. Delaware also excelled in the high team maneuvers event, further showcasing their strong competitive spirit.

Not to be overlooked, New York University achieved a remarkable third-place finish with 236.0 points, equaling their highest-ever standing at the National Intercollegiate Final. Milly Wasserman emerged victorious in the novice solo free dance and excelled in the preliminary free skate group B, contributing significantly to her school’s total of five wins.

Among the event’s highlights, two Team USA athletes currently competing collegiately also secured prestigious titles for their respective schools. 2022 Olympic team event gold medalist Karen Chen brought home gold in the pre-gold solo pattern dance for Cornell University, helping them achieve a fifth-place finish. Similarly, 2022 Four Continents pairs champion Audrey Lu triumphed in the senior championships women’s free skate competition.
