U.S. figure skater Amber Glenn proud of Olympic fight as she leaves Milano Cortina 2026 with team gold and momentum

The 26-year-old Texan bounced back from 13th in the short program, attacking her free skate to finish fifth. Now she turns her attention to the upcoming World Championships in Prague.

U.S. figure skater Amber Glenn’s Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 were “a whirlwind.” A gold medal winner with Team USA and now – finally – an Olympian, Glenn experienced both the highs and lows of the biggest stage in sports. She leaves Milan proud and an Olympic champion.

“I’m just so grateful for the people that are on this team and who support this team that helped me get here and get through these Games,” said the 26-year-old to Olympics.com contributor Gracie Gold. “I’m walking away with a medal so I’m very happy.”

Initially a medal contender in the individual event, Glenn faced a setback when she popped her final jump, a triple loop, finishing in 13th place heading into the free skate. However, rather than resign to defeat, this resilient skater rose to the occasion, fueled by a passion for the sport.

“It’s something I do every day,” Glenn remarked. “I locked in and I was like, ‘I’m gonna do my job and I’m going to get it done.’” She refocused her energy, prioritizing enjoyment over results, embracing the Olympic experience she had long desired.

“I’m going to have that moment on Olympic ice, whether I fall on every element or if it’s a clean program, I am going to enjoy myself,” she stated. As she launched into her free skate, her determination paid off as she climbed to fifth place, leaving an electric atmosphere in the rink.

“Every time my name was announced in that rink, there was an eruption of applause, and I am so grateful for that,” reflected Glenn. This pivotal shift reshaped her Olympic journey, with both her coach and family offering unwavering support during the highs and lows.

Next on the horizon is a quick turnaround as Glenn gears up for the upcoming World Figure Skating Championships in Prague. “As of right now, I’m planning to be there,” she confirmed. “I’ve never been to Prague, so I’m so excited for that.”

Amber Glenn’s incredible journey continues, spotlighting the determination and grit necessary for success in the world of professional figure skating.
