2025 ISU Junior Grand Prix Series Kicks off in Latvia

Riga, Latvia will set the stage for thrilling figure skating competition as the 2025 ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series launches from August 20-23. Eleven junior athletes from the U.S. are heading to this prestigious event, aiming to secure top spots in their respective categories.

This year, seven of the skaters have previous international podium finishes, highlighting the strong talent pool representing U.S. Figure Skating. Four athletes, however, will debut at the Junior Grand Prix, eager to establish themselves on the global stage.

Among those making headlines are Naomi Williams and Lachlan Lewer, the 2024 World Junior bronze medalists in pairs. Despite their stellar résumé, this marks their first appearance in the Junior Grand Prix, as they transition back to junior competition following their participation in last season’s senior Grand Prix.

Addyson McDanold and Aaron Felberbaum also return for their second year, having previously finished seventh at their inaugural JGP. They secured silver at the 2024 Tayside Trophy and placed fifth at the 2025 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships, showcasing their growth and determination.

The men’s event features Lorenzo Elano, making a splash in his Junior Grand Prix debut. After clinching the junior title at the U.S. Championships and securing two international medals last season, Elano is eager to continue building his promising young career.

In the women’s event, Sherry Zhang looks to repeat her bronze finish from the 2023 Junior Grand Prix in Armenia, enhancing her credentials with recent medals at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games. Angela Shao aims for her own success as she steps onto the Junior Grand Prix stage for the first time.

Returning ice dancers Michelle Deych and Ryan Hu will compete for a strong finish after their 2025 U.S. junior pewter medal win. New duo Jasmine Robertson and Chase Rohner round out the U.S. contingent.

Competition begins with the short programs on August 20, followed by rhythm dances on Friday; medals will be awarded following the free skates. Fans can watch this exhilarating series live on the ISU YouTube channel as these talented juniors vie for their spot in the December Grand Prix Final in Nagoya, Japan.
