The much-anticipated 2025 Excel National Final concluded this past week in Colorado Springs, highlighting the best talents in professional figure skating. Over 900 skaters took part in this prestigious event, designed to offer competitive experience and crucial educational opportunities both on and off the ice. As the season approaches, participants showcased remarkable skills that captivated fans and judges alike.
In the senior events, Tongxi Liu of Glacier Falls FSC claimed gold in the men’s category for the second consecutive year, with an impressive score of 67.19. His performance, a medley of Bruno Mars, was marked by a change of foot combination spin and precision jumps, decisively setting him apart from his competitors.
Meanwhile, Dalia DeLaura from the SC of New York seized her first senior women’s title, finishing with a total of 80.46 points. Notable execution of difficult elements, including a remarkable double flip-double loop sequence, impressed spectators and judges alike.
The junior events also sparked excitement, showcasing emerging talents. Ashlyn Brown of Sun Valley FSC edged out her competitors, scoring 69.54 points in the women’s event. The novice categories were no less thrilling. Ailis Hong of Pasadena FSC captured gold in the novice women’s segment, earning 66.60 points, highlighted by impressive sequences in her routine. In the novice men’s event, Carson Kandas emerged victorious with a score of 55.48, demonstrating both fluidity and technical prowess.
